Happy Friday and welcome to Part 3 of Blending with Tombows! Today I am going to show you how to use the Colorless Blending Pen to create a brand new color with 2 different colored Tombow Dual Brush Pens! This is a fun way to blend! It's also fun to try and come up with different color combinations! If you have all 96 of these brush pens, there are a lot of combinations! I would recommend following the Color Tracker on the back of the Blending Palette (if you don't have one, you can print off your own here!) Stick to colors that are close together on the wheel which will help prevent muddy colors! Ok, onto blending!
Gather your materials! In the picture above, I am using Marker Paper by Canson, the Colorless Blender Pen N00, Coral 873, Cherry 815, Turquoise 443, and Deep Magenta 685, and the Blending Palette (if you don't have this you can use a clear stamp block or a sandwich bag!)
Let's start with Coral and Cherry! Take your Blending Palette and scribble some ink from both pens onto it.
Grab the Colorless Blender and pick up some of the Cherry ink first. Turn the pen and pick up the ink, then repeat until all sides of the tip are covered.
Now still using the Colorless Blender, pick up the Coral ink and turn the pen repeatedly to cover the tip. You want to cover the Cherry ink with the Coral ink. You are essentially putting the Coral ink on top of the Cherry!
Letter out your word with the Colorless Blender. This color reminds me of flowers, so I chose to letter that out! You'll notice your pen will start to fade to a much lighter color after a couple of letters, when that happens just stop and pick up more ink starting with Cherry first and then adding more Coral.
After you have finished lettering out your word, just scribble the Colorless Blender on your paper to get rid of the extra ink. These pens are self cleaning so just cap it and you are good to go till next time!
Let's try another color combination! We'll use Turquoise and Deep Magenta for this one. We will use the same steps as above. Grab the Blending Palette and scribble both the Turquoise and Deep Magenta onto the Palette. Then use the Colorless Blender to pick up the Deep Magenta first.
Still using the Colorless Blender, now pick up the Turquoise ink. Cover the whole tip like in Step 4.
This color combo reminds me of the unicorn emoji, so I chose to letter that out!
If you'd like to add more of one color into your word, just pick up that color with your Blender and add it in! I wanted a little more magenta to show up, so I put a tiny bit on the tip and blended it in!
And there you have it! 2 brand new colors! If you don't have the Colorless Blender and Palette but you're realizing you need these in your life, you can grab them here! Tombow has a kit that includes both of these items! They will quickly become some of your favorite lettering tools!
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! If you have any questions, just ask!
Have fun blending, and happy lettering!
